The Kerr Lake Experience
Nestled in the historic city of Henderson, North Carolina, near the Virginia border, Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has served the community for over 30 years. With referring clinicians from local community-based providers as well as academic-based hospitals throughout North Carolina, we are in the process of transforming our 115-bed facility and surrounding grounds with our residents at the center of every decision.
PLEASE TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR OF OUR BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT TO VIEW HOW OUR FACILITY WILL LOOK UPON COMPLETION.
Our facility and grounds are undergoing a multi-million dollar property modernization through Spring of 2023. We’re still accepting new residents and work hard to minimize any disruption to their daily care. Please contact us with any questions. We’re excited to share the changes with our surrounding community once complete!
Our Community Focus
Our space provides residents with a home away from home centered around nature— providing comfort, nurture, and healing while they are in our care. Our grounds and beautiful courtyard are currently being revitalized and will serve as a point of interaction with nature as well as a powerful wayfinding tool to help residents navigate the facility.
Your home is meant to be safe, a place of comfort, and enjoyable. Whether your loved one is in recovery for a short-term stay, or transitioning to long-term care, we focus on their well-being, safety, and security, while providing a community in a warm and familiar environment.

Nourishment
Dining & Nutrition Services
Nutrition and dietary monitoring is an important part of a resident’s holistic care plan. Our registered dietitian serves as a nutrition consultant for the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal health and well-being of our residents as well as designing and delivering specific dietary and complex nutrition needs. We provide each resident with a nourishing, tasteful, well-balanced diet that meets the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each resident.
Customized meal plans to accommodate dietary requirement or restriction, including special diets to help manage conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes.
Residents appreciate our well-appointed restaurant-style dining room, where personal table service makes meals enjoyable and offer a social occasion.

State of the Art Safety
Safety is a Top Priority
We have multiple prevention methods for the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses. These include routine electrostatic cleaning, needlepoint bipolar ionization (cold plasma), HEPA air scrubbers, and MERV 13 air filter installation. Cold plasma has been shown to kill multiple bacteria, viruses and mold spores, and recent studies have demonstrated a significant reduction of COVID-19 virus when installed.
Partnering With Industry Experts
We developed and implemented industry-leading protocols to help prevent the spread of disease. We partnered with university and community-based epidemiology clinical experts, the North Carolina Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE), while following state and CDC guidance.
Some of Our Additional Safety Measures Include:
Following all guidance and requirements for state and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) to ensure optimal patient, family and staff safety
Residents are monitored and screened regularly
Teammates and guests wear masks throughout their shifts/visits when required
Engagement
Daily Activities
When residents have an engaging social life, they’re able to live more comfortably and productively. Activities give structure which provides them certainty in knowing what’s coming up next; time goes by faster and increases a sense of purpose. There’s also something comforting about having people around who care enough to make your days a little more interesting.

Kind Words
“My mother-in-law is a resident at this facility, and she absolutely loves it. They have bingo on Wednesday afternoons, and it is her all-time favorite activity to do there! My husband and I enjoy speaking to the staff as they are very professional and kind.”
